Well and Sanitation Project

Rotary International has completed the first phase of a project of providing wells and sanitation facilities to villages along the Rio Cocco River that separates Nicaragua from Honduras We have provided transportation for the materials and guidance for some of the workers.

Two years ago Steve Johnson in conjunction with Rotary International created a three-year project to provide wells and latrines to 10 villages along the Rio Cocco River. The plan was designed to complete work in three villages each year over a period of three years. Initially there were some bumps in the road involving creation of the cement rings for the wells and replacing the local person in charge. PIHOM has also provided a truck to move the materials around to the villages. Rotary of Managua has also been involved l since the beginning.
